Let me tell you though, that toothbrush holder (and the million other home-decor items gifted by my lovely mother over the years) came in very handy when I finally got out on my own.
It's rather difficult to decorate an apartment bathroom when your only options are things that aren't permanent and can be easily removed when you move again (pleeease let that be many years in the future!). I couldn't go for new cabinets or new light fixtures or new taps or anything of the sort. I was forced to resort to the basics... the simple decorating elements that warm-and-cozy-up a bathroom. So, with no major overhaul needing to be done this room came together very quickly. I already had a bathroom set complete with shower curtain and towels courtesy of the mom gifts from teenage-hood. Allow me to remind you of the original state of the bathroom when I moved in.... clean but bland.
Although my decoration is nothing special and not super style savvy, it's cute and me and better than the stark, all-white everywhere that it was before! The new and improved......
So there you have it: proof that only a few simple things can transform a space from plain and stark to warm and inviting... even if it is a bathroom! Someday maybe I can really renovate a bathroom and then I'll have some real fun! I'll save those dreams for another post....
